Nine towns are part of the county of Bajo Martín. At the north Vinaceite and Azaila are located on the shores of the river Aguasvivas. Further south, following a trail that runs parallel to the Ebro, the river Martín passes through Albalate del Arzobispo, Urrea de Gaén, Híjar, La Puebla de Híjar, Jatiel, Samper de Calanda and Castelnou.

The cultural capital of the county of Bajo Martín, Albalate del Arzobispo, treasures a rich secular and religious architectural heritage. Today, it has a population of 2,235 and it still is a service and commercial centre for the neighbouring towns. |

Azaila is located on the right bank of the river Aguasvivas. Not far from the town we can see the ruins of Cabezo de Alcalá, one of the most important Iberian settlements in Spain. |

As it crosses the municipal area of Castelnow, the river Martín creates a rich and beautiful natural habitat, which has been declared as a Site of Regional Interest and which is ideal for hiking. |

Híjar was the home of one of the most important aristocratic families in the history of Aragón. Today it is the administrative head of the county and, with its 1,952 people, it has become the service centre for the rest of the Bajo Martín. |

Jatiel is the smallest of the towns in the county of Bajo Martín, with only 60 people. In its land there are crops of bagged Calanda peaches and olive trees for the production of olive oil under the Designation of Origin (DO) Bajo Aragón. |

La Puebla de Híjar has traditionally been linked to the dukedom of Híjar. Nowadays is a very dynamic town and, during the past century, it has been able to take advantage of its railroad station in order to transform itself. |

Samper de Calanda is built on the right bank of the river Martín, very near the railroad line connecting Saragossa and Barcelona, which has an unstaffed station in the town. |

Urrea de Gaén is known as the last Moorish aljama in Bajo Aragón and it preserves like no other town in the area its Muslim air, which is easily noticeable when we leisurely walk about its streets. |

Vinaceite stands in the westernmost area of the county. With a small population Vinaceite has traditionally been devoted to agriculture and farming. Today, cereals and olive trees are the main crops. |
