Castelnou was erected on the sides of a steep gully, very close to the point where the river Martín flows into the Ebro.
It has a population of 134 inhabitants, who are evenly divided between agriculture and services. It can boast excellent crops of bagged peaches and olives for oil production.
Castelnou must be reached crossing a narrow and elegant stone bridge. Its main square suggests rest and board. The most significant building in the town is the parish church of the Immaculate Conception. Its inside offers some of the best craftsmanship in the area, with an overelaborate, yet subtle, baroque style.
As it crosses the municipal area of Castelnow, the river Martín creates a rich and beautiful natural habitat, which has been declared as a Site of Regional Interest and which is ideal for hiking.
