The towns

Azaila

AzailaAzaila is located on the right bank of the river Aguasvivas and it is crossed by the road connecting Castellón and Saragossa. Agriculture and services are its main sources of employment.

The town origin dates back to medieval times. Its city centre, which is small and has characteristically rural features, stretches along a deep gully. The most outstanding building is the parish church of Our Lady of the Rosary, a baroque construction from the 17th century that is made of brick and mortar.

Not far from the town we can see the ruins of Cabezo de Alcalá, one of the most, if not the most important Iberian settlement in Aragón.

Also very near we can reach Planas de la Hoya, which hides the reservoir of Almochuel, a true oasis in the area.
